SwedCham and Business Sweden have the pleasure to invite you to a webinar on the new EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement.
The European Union Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) is the most comprehensive and ambitious trade and investment agreement that the EU has ever concluded with a developing country in Asia. It is the second agreement in the ASEAN region, after Singapore, and it will intensify bilateral relations between Vietnam and the EU.
This webinar aims to provide an overview on what implications and opportunities the FTA will bring to Swedish companies in Vietnam. Additionally, this seminar will give companies a better understanding of the specific benefits, and how to take advantage of them, for trade in goods and services in key industries between EU and Vietnam. The webinar will also highlight how the agreement can help with recovery after COVID-19.
On 8th June this year, Vietnam's National Assembly ratified the European Union Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), paving the way for it to take effect sometime in July or August this year. The EVFTA is an ambitious pact eliminating almost 99 percent of customs duties between the EU and Vietnam. The EU-Vietnam trade deal also contains important provisions on intellectual property protection, labour rights and sustainable development. The FTA includes commitments to implement International Labour Organisation core standards and UN conventions relating to, for example, the fight against climate change and the protection of biodiversity.
